BIOGRAPHY
Originally from Central California, Marty has been a
musician for 45 years and has been teaching privately for almost 25 years.
He also taught Percussion Instruments, Jazz Improvisation, and directed The
M.P.C. Swing Band for 17,15,and 5 years respectively at Monterey Peninsula
College. He also substituted for other piano instructors when needed. Marty
was also a Clinician/Assistant Administrator with The Monterey Jazz
Festival Youth Camp for 2 years prior to moving to New Mexico in 2004.
Marty was also a clinician for The Monterey County Symphony providing
in-school music demonstrations for 4th and 5th Graders throughout the
Monterey Peninsula and performing as a member of the Orchestra during that
time as well. All the while Marty maintained a busy private teaching
practice either out of his home studio and/or through local music stores.
Not busy enough, Marty also kept active working with local bands both as a
permanent member and a freelancer. Here in New Mexico he joined with
other outstanding musicians to form the DOWNBEAT band playing venues around
the Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas. After leaving Downbeat in October, Marty is currently concentrating on his private teaching practice and playing bass at Mission San Jose in Algodones.
